Dijon Steak Broil

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Partner: macaroni salad

Although fresh ginger seems costly, it makes a great vinaigrette. Combine salad dressing with a teaspoon of grated fresh ginger as a special touch over mixed salad greens.

Ingredients

4 New York strip steaks, cut 1 inch thick (about 8 ounces each)

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp dried rosemary

1/2 tsp pepper

2 Tbsp vegetable oil

1/3 cup Dijon mustard

1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger

Directions

  1. Arrange steaks in a medium baking dish. Combine garlic powder, basil, oregano, rosemary, pepper and oil in a small bowl. Spread over steaks. Let stand for at least 10 minutes.

  2. Grease broiler pan. Preheat broiler. Broil steaks 4 inches from heat, turning once, for about 10 minutes for medium-rare.

  3. Meanwhile, combine mustard, Worcestershire sauce and ginger in a small bowl.

  4. Place steaks on a serving platter. Add pan juices to mustard mixture. Stir well. Serve sauce with steaks.

Dijon Steak Broil tip: In a hurry? Use prepared Italian seasoning in step 1 instead of combining your own herbs.
