Fresh Green Beans

Early summer is the time to stock up on inexpensive fresh green beans. Boil or steam them for 1 minute, drain, then freeze in small plastic bags. Use in this recipe, adding 20 minutes of cooking time.
Ingredients
1 (16-ounce) can cut green beans
1/2 small red onion, sliced
1 chicken bouillon cube, or 1 teaspoon bouillon granules
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 cup water
Directions

Drain green beans. Place in a medium saucepan.

Add onion, bouillon cube, pepper and water to saucepan.

Cook beans, covered, over medium-low heat for 20 minutes.

Lift green beans and onion from liquid with a slotted spoon. Discard cooking liquid.

Fresh Green Beans tip: To save some time, place all the ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on HIGH for 5 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
