Homemade Granola

Servings: 6

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 35 minutes

Partner: sliced strawberries

Dried cranberries give this Homemade Granola a new taste. If you prefer a traditional granola that saves a little money, too, substitute raisins or currants for the dried cranberries.

Ingredients

3 cup rolled oats

3/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans

3/4 cup coarsely chopped almonds

1/2 cup shredded coconut

1/2 cup molasses

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup water

3 Tbsp vegetable oil

1/2 cup golden raisins

1/2 cup raisins

1 cup dried cranberries

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease a large, shallow baking pan. Combine oats, pecans, almonds and coconut and spread in prepared pan.

  2. Combine molasses, brown sugar, water and oil in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Pour over oat mixture.

  3. Bake oat mixture for 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.

  4. Stir in raisins and cranberries. Bake for 15 minutes longer, stirring every 5 minutes. Cool. Store in an airtight container.

Homemade Granola tip: Rolled oats are also sometimes labeled old-fashioned oats. You can also use quick-cooking oats in this recipe.
